The Ministry of Information (MOIN) arises on the heels of an executive decision to decouple the then Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure (MOICI) into two standalone ministries. Its creation symbolizes the political will for the realization of a conducive operating environment that crystalizes the culture of symbiotic collaboration, consultation and inclusive governance in the information value chain. The Ministry signifies the aggregate commitment of the Government to domesticate industry-specific international human rights accords that seek to strengthen surgical investments in the information value chain by enhancing the potency of knowledge and information societies in making rational political and socioeconomic decisions.

Mandate

The mandate of the Ministry of Information is categorized as follows:

o To provide accurate, reliable and timely information on government activities, projects and other initiatives with a view to inform, educate and galvanize public confidence in the service delivery structures of the Government.

o Propagate sound policies and legal frameworks to consolidate overall gains in the spheres of strengthening fundamental rights and freedoms, democratic pluralism and open governance initiatives.

o To enhance the participation of the citizenry and civil society organizations in the democratization process through inclusivity and amplification of public consultation culture.

Vision

Provision of an enabling environment that induces collective participation in national discourse through collection, analysis, synthesis and dissemination of information on government activities, projects and other initiatives.

Mission

To be the bastion of democratic pluralism through the promotion of fundamental rights and freedoms in the context of creating knowledge and information societies for greater accountability in public service delivery.
